Students will read 20-25 minutes each night and write a summary of what they read. Reading Logs are due on Friday of each week.

Main Goal : For students to read on their own and reach the “milestones” at their own pace.

- For every checkpoint, 125,000 words, the student will receive a letter

- For every milestone: students will receive an additional reward
500,000 - AM- To be determined
750,000 - PI- Make Tie Dye t-shirts
1,000,000 - ON - Dash or Crawdads game
- Students that have collected all the letters and reached the 1000000 word mark will receive a trip off campus to attend a Winston Salem Dash, or Hickory Crawdads game during the school day.
- We will use the guideline of a letter a month, or 125,000 words a month.
- Students may get the letters at any time. For example, if they miss having 125,000 words by the end of September they will receive the letter at the time they reach the 125,000 mark.
- Reading Counts tests should be taken on all books that a test is provided.
- For other readings the student will provide the Title, Author, Genre and Publisher along with a short summary of the book to receive words read credit. Summaries will be submitted to Mrs. Cook.
- Student names and letters they have received will be displayed in the hallway in front of the Media Center.
